"Deep in the Pines" Tours

We are excited to announce the launch of Deep in the Pines, a brand-new self-guided mobile tour application made possible by the National Endowment of the Humanities.

Designed for visitors of all ages, these tours blend character-driven soundscapes, augmented reality filters, and historic photographs to bring the unique stories of this region to life. Stop by the General Store to borrow an iPad, or follow us on Facebook to learn more about playtesting events!

Lore & Legend of the Pine Barrens

Tour Length: 60 – 90 minutes

Explore the trails for a chance to encounter the notorious myths and legends of the Pine Barrens. Retrace the footsteps of a missing podcaster who was last seen searching for the Jersey Devil during a campfire storytelling event. By following along, you will learn about the traditional folklore of the region… and why it has gained such a mysterious reputation.

Native Fruits & Superfoods

Tour Length: 40 – 60 minutes

Join Ciara and Ben, a tour guide and a chef-in-the-making, as they explore the bounty of the woods — and the agricultural history of New Jersey! From foraging to farming, you will learn about the original foodways of the Lenape people, recipes brought from Europe, and meals cooked by farm workers. Along the way, earn traditional recipes featuring the bright, fresh flavors of blueberries and cranberries.

These two tours are the first of many Whitesbog is developing! To learn more and help support Whitesbog’s work be sure to become a member, sponsor or donor! Application designed and developed by Night Kitchen Interactive. This project is funded by a prototype grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Further funding is expected from the New Jersey Historic Trust funds for Hertiage Tourism.
